Ham Common

Upper Ham Road, Richmond, TW10 5LA

Ham Pond is the Common's focal point, and it dates back to when horses were watered on the Common. Nowadays the pond attracts children and parents who enjoy feeding the ducks. The open "green" is the site for Ham Fair in the summer, and cricket matches, and is an ideal spot for a picnic or an informal ball game. A purpose-built horse track crosses the Common linking Ham Avenue with Petersham Road. Across the road is a woodland area, which is excellent for wildlife, particularly insects and fungi, and is well used by walkers.
