Improving Richmond's parks
London has some of the best examples of urban parks in the country and the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames is renowned for having some of the highest quality open space in the capital.
The Council’s Parks and Open Spaces Section has a enthusiastic Parks Service Development Team who are dedicated to improving our parks and open spaces to a level where they could be considered as some of the best in London.
Due to substantial capital investment we currently have an excellent opportunity to make this happen.
Improving a park can be done in many ways, such as:
- Physical improvements - hard and soft landscaping
- Establishing Friends groups and supporting community involvement
- Improving accessibility- better paths and entrances
- Improving facilities - play, sports, pavilions, benches, bins and signage
- Working in partnership with users and other stakeholders
See the Parks Improvement Programme pages to see improvements that have already been carried out and to view works planned over the coming years.
In addition to this Parks and Open Spaces have been also been implementing a £500,000 per year borough wide Play Area Refurbishment Programme. Running since 2003 the project has provided new, innovative and safe play facilities to all parts of the borough.
