The Young People’s Library Service provides library services to all those in the borough up to the age of sixteen.

  • It's free to join!
  • Borrow up to 10 items at a time.
  • Free use of the internet.
  • If your books are late, you won’t have to pay a fine.

Kid's Room

Keep up-to-date with books and reading! You'll find homework websites, fun links, and information on our Chatterbooks reading groups.

Teenage Room

Great reading suggestions from gr8 txts and The Current, study help, careers and health advice, as well as up-to-date entertainment, sports and environmental links.

Parents, Carers and Under 5s' Room

Parent and child

Information on Bookstart, children and internet safety, educational issues, storysacks, and links to useful websites.

All of the libraries hold a Storytime for the under-5s once a week. Most of the libraries also hold monthly bounce and rhyme sessions for pre-school children, called Tiny Teddies. All these activities are free of charge.
