Safari frequently asked questions

I'm having problems accessing Safari from home.

To access Safari from outside Richmond Libraries you need to go to the library catalogue Online Resources where you will be asked for your Richmond library card number and PIN. Once these have been entered, go to the link to Safari. If this does not take you to Richmond's Safari home page or if you are asked for a subscriber user name and password please check the following:

  • There are some known problems caused by personal firewalls. Please see Problems accessing our online services?
  • You may not be able to enter Safari if the number of concurrent user licences is exceeded, i.e. if more than 3 people are searching Safari at any one time. You may need to try again later.

If your access problem persists please contact peoples.network@richmond.gov.uk.

Can I create my own account to use Safari at home rather than access it via the library catalogue Online Resources?

You cannot create your own account with Safari through Richmond's e-book Safari collection. If you want to access Safari from home, you have to go through the library catalogue Online Resources and enter your Richmond library card number and PIN.

Why can't I print out several pages/chapters from a Safari e-book?

Because Safari's e-books are protected by Copyright Law. The system will not allow you to print out more than a chapter.

If you have more questions about Safari, please e-mail peoples.network@richmond.gov.uk.
