Many people are interested in their family history. There are several places where you can find out information, and there are many useful links to external websites. Remember to ask family members for information, as there is often a vast amount of valuable information to be found from the older generation.

The Cemetery Office has an online search facility of all the burial records which have taken place in the cemeteries which are managed by the London Borough of Richmond. This can be useful to find out where someone was buried, their age and the date of burial. You can print a map of the layout of the cemetery, or purchase a map for £2 which will show you where the exact grave is within the cemetery. More information is on our page on family history.

The Local Studies Library has many items of archived information such as old newspapers, maps and plans of the Borough, local census returns, rate books and local history guides.
