Phase III development - restoration of the Stables

The opening of the Coach House Education Centre has enabled our education work to continue to expand and develop in our state-of-the-art facility.

The next phase of our development, following the successful award from Heritage Lottery Fund in June 2006, will complete the restoration of the Stables, realising the potential of the entire site.

The development of the North Stables will include a historical display, cafe, and artist residency workshop; the upgraded Stables Gallery will be open all year; the grounds will be improved to include a new public garden, clearer signage and improved disabled access.

Alongside the Coach House Education Centre, Phase III will enable us to provide improved facilities, extended programming and a broader provision, which will enhance the experience for every visitor. The Stables gallery will be closed while the renovations are taking place. Phase III is due for completion in 2008

Proposed plans for Orleans House Gallery Grounds 2007

Further to our successful bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund in 2006, a planting plan has been developed by landscape consultants Parklife in consultation with Parks and Open Spaces, Thames Landscape Strategy, the Friends of Orleans House Gardens and other local groups and individuals.

This plan shows the proposed plant and proposed planting locations for the landscape works that form part of the development project.

Consultation update

Many thanks to those who have taken the time to respond to our consultation process regarding the exciting developments here at the Gallery. We had invited comments on the landscape design around the main gallery and courtyard area. We had posted our design plan both on the website and around the entrances to the Orleans Park Gardens. This plan included the hard and soft landscaping proposals.

All the comments received have now been forwarded to the planning department along with the formal planting plan as part of our planning conditions. We hope to hear the outcome of this by the end of October. All external works and planting will be completed by the Spring of 2008.
