Arcadia Revisited: Tour and talk for local artists

Launch of artsrichmond’s Arcadia Revisited visual arts project which culminates in exhibitions as part of the festival at White Lodge and Orleans House Gallery. The event will include a curator-led tour of the exhibition Arcadian Vistas: Richmond’s Landscape Gardens at Orleans House Gallery with Mark De Novellis and talk by Jason Debney of the Thames Landscape Strategy, aimed at inspiring contemporary artists to go out and capture their vision of the borough’s Arcadia afresh.

Lecture Supper: The Creation and Restoration of Painshill

Talk by Kath Clark and Karen Bridgman, looking at creation and restoration of Painshill Park and ideas and plants linking Painshill and Strawberry Hill. Lecture at 7pm followed by supper in the Café at 8pm.

Share your stories about Orleans House Gardens and choose your favourite garden painting from the Richmond upon Thames Borough Art Collection with artist Ania Bas and curator Mark De Novellis.

Music for an Arcadian Landscape

  • £10/£5 students, free admission for children under 16

A concert by the Lovekyn Consort, tracing the influence of landscape andnaturalism through 18th Century British music composed by Handel, Arne, Eccles and others. Featuring Soprano, Harpsichord, Flute,Recorder, Cello and Violin the concert will take place in the intimate surroundings of the Salon at White Lodge. The beautiful Arcadian view to Pen Ponds may be enjoyed from the balcony of the Salon.

Evening Lecture and Garden Tour

  • £30 including prosecco & canapés

The lecture will discuss the recent restoration of house and landscape at Strawberry Hill, Horace Walpole’s Gothic castle. Gardener in Charge, Patrick Green, will discuss the practical details of the planting schemes and plant choices. A ticket to this event will include a readmission ticket to the House until 6 November 2013.
