Learning and Skills Council
The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) is responsible for funding and planning education and all training for over 16-year-olds in England, other than that undertaken in universities.
Established in April 2001 their work covers:
- further education
- work-based training and young people
- school sixth forms
- workforce development
- adult and community learning
- information, advice and guidance for adults
- education business links.
The LSC works alongside the Employment Service, the Small Business Service, Connexions, the National Training Organisations, further education and sixth form colleges, and representatives of community groups, to understand, define and then meet training and education needs.
The LSC for South London has its headquarters in Croydon.

Richmond upon Thames College
As well as being the sixth form college for all schools in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, Richmond upon Thames College is a skills centre, offering modern apprenticeships and a continuing and higher education centre offering a wide range of courses for adults.

Richmond Adult and Community College (RACC)
Richmond Adult Community College, a further education college, has a strong team ethos where diversity and intellectual freedom is valued and achievement for all is realised.
The college is located on a number of sites within he London Borough of Richmond upon Thames with two main sites at Richmond and Twickenham.
The College is Grade A financial health, has a £10 million turnover, 600 staff and 20,000 students. In November 2001 it was inspected by OFSTED/ALI and achieved an impressive array of top grades with one of the best teaching quality ratings for post-19 learners.
The college is pathfinder Centre of Vocational Excellence in Business and ICT, at the leading edge of workforce development and has just opened a brand new Richmond Business School.

St Mary’s (University of Surrey) College feel at home
St Mary’s was founded by the Catholic Church in 1850 to train teachers. Although its modern education degrees are an important part of its work, its range of courses is diverse and students of all backgrounds are welcomed. St Mary’s awards degrees of the University of Surrey. It has an excellent academic and student employment record, friendly atmosphere and caring student-centred approach.
