Special Olympics Richmond is part of Special Olympics GB. We aim to have sports activities all year round, with opportunities to compete in regional, national and international competitions, including the British Special Olympics and The Special Olympics (the next Special Olympics will be held in Athens in 2011). However, you do not have to take part in competitions; you can just come along each week to any of our activities and have fun, get fit, and meet new people. Athletics/track & field activities, indoor sports and football are all free, but there is a small weekly charge for swimming.
Special Olympics is for anyone who has a learning difficulty or learning disability and is aged 8 or over, but there is no maximum age and you do not have to live in the borough of Richmond (we are called Special Olympics Richmond because all of our activities take place in the borough of Richmond). We welcome people of all abilities, and want to encourage people to try something new. Just turn up at any of our activities and we will be delighted to see you. You will be asked to complete a medical form before you start an activity, so please bring your medical details with you. Please ring Nuala on 07799 418 051 if you need any more information, or email Nuala at specialolympicsrichmond@googlemail.com.
