Fair Access to Care Services

What is Fair Access to Care Services?

Fair Access to Care Services are government guidelines that help Councils decide who gets a service. A care manager looks at what might happen to you, and the risk to your independence, if you do not receive a service.

How do I get a service?

If you want a service we have to find out whether your support needs are

  • Critical
  • Substantial
  • Moderate
  • Low

This is called a FACS assessment.

The assessment looks at whether you can;

  • Make choices for yourself
  • Stay healthy and safe
  • Manage your own daily routine

It also looks at your involvement in family and community life.

If your level of need is critical, substantial or moderate you will receive a service from the Council.

How do I get a FACS assessment?

Contact one of the care managers. They will talk to you and see if they can help you.

You can call them on 020 8487 5315.

What happens if I cannot receive a service?

If the council cannot help you, they will give you information about places that may be able to help you in the community. You can also make a complaint if you are not happy with the decision that the council has made.
