Leaving care for young people

The leaving care service help young people who are preparing to leave care with accommodation, education and employment, and supporting them through to the age of 21 and sometimes beyond that.

We work closely with the families of these children and young people, and with organisations that are important in their lives.

We aim to listen to children and young people, especially about their hopes and wishes for the future, and to help them to make the best of their lives. We seek the views of families, and use these views to help decide what sort of services suit them best.

We are determined to make the service that we offer fair. By challenging all forms of discrimination we aim to actively promote equal opportunities for all of the children and young people we work with.

Our office also contains a resource centre for children and young people, and provides a base for several projects helping with the health and education needs of children and young people, and the supported accommodation needs of care leavers.
