Richmond Domestic Abuse Forum

Richmond Domestic Abuse Forum

The Domestic Abuse Forum was established in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames 14 years ago. The purpose of the forum is to raise awareness of domestic abuse, its prevalence and its affect on women, children and men. The forum achieves this by working in partnership with a wide variety of agencies.

The Forum meets every quarter and produces a monthly newsletter. For more information, or to be included on the mailing list, contact the Domestic Abuse Coordinator.

The Domestic Abuse Forum recently updated its Terms of Reference(pdf, 60KB).

Multi-agency workshops

The Domestic Abuse Forum runs workshops for multi-agency partners every two months. The workshops provide an opportunity for practitioners in Richmond Upon Thames to come together to share information, ideas and experience of working with domestic abuse and associated issues. The workshops are free and open to anyone who works in the borough. Each meeting is based around a theme with one or two presentations from experienced practitioners in the field.

Since November 2007, workshops have addressed:

  • A joint event with HMCS on criminal and civil responses to domestic abuse as part of ‘Inside Justice’;
  • Risk assessment and domestic abuse;
  • Effective responses to children;
  • A MARAC (Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference) training day.

The next workshop series will begin in September 2008 and will include items on working with perpetrators, domestic abuse in the lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBT) communities and domestic abuse and mental health.
