16 Days of Action and the White Ribbon Campaign
Between November 25 and December 10 2008, the Richmond upon Thames Domestic Abuse Forum will be undertaking a series of activities to mark the 16 Days of Action and White Ribbon Campaign. This will build on events in 2007.
The 16 Days of Action
The 16 Days of Action begins with November 25, International Day for the Eradication of Violence against Women and end on December 10, International Human Rights Day, in order to symbolically emphasize that violence against women is a human rights violation. For more information go to www.unifem.org/campaigns/vaw/16days.php.
The White Ribbon Campaign
The White Ribbon Campaign also begins on the November 25, urging men and boys to wear a ribbon for one or two weeks. The Campaign is the largest effort in the world of men working to end men's violence against women. Wearing a white ribbon is a personal pledge never to commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women.
