Private, voluntary and independent nurseries
Private, voluntary and independent (PVI) nurseries provide care, play and educational opportunities for children aged from birth until 5 years and operate from a range of premises. They can provide full or part time care for children. Some operate during term times only and others are open all year round.
All PVI nurseries listed on our childcare search are Ofsted registered and parents can follow a link to the latest Ofsted inspection report. Settings on the local authority’s Directory of Providers can draw down the Nursery Education Grant to fund up to 15 hours per week for 3 and 4 year olds. Some of these settings provide free nursery places for 2 year old children who meet the eligibility criteria.
