About the courses
The Richmond Carers Centre has organised a series of free information workshops for carers. These run from May 2007 to March 2008.
The courses are on a variety of topics, including:
- Direct payments
- Benefits advice
- Carers assessments
- Dealing with violence and agression
- Manual handling and lifting people
- Deaf awareness
- Promoting independence for your adult son/daughter with a learning disability
- Understanding depression
- The role of your GP
- How to complain to social services or to the Health Service
- Infection control
- What next after school? For parents/carers of people with learning disabilities
- Carers rights
- Basic awareness: stroke, diabetes, Parkinson's, heart failure, epilepsy
- Managing medication
- Understanding dementia
