Homeshare Scheme
Homesharing allows anyone who needs practical support and companionship at home to be matched up with a homesharer who provides these services in return for accommodation.
You do not have to be a homeowner to take up homesharing, it is available to anyone in need of support who owns or rents their home and who has a spare bedroom for the homesharer.
Homesharing is offered in many London boroughs and is encouraged by the government. London Borough of Richmond upon Thames works with a charitable organization called London Care Connections to ensure the “matching” is carried out safely and monitored appropriately. London Care Connections employ a care co-ordinator to oversee the matching process. They also employ staff to seek references, do Criminal Record checks and recruit homesharers.
