Adult Placement Carers offer support and care to up to 3 Adults who have a Learning Disability, in their own homes, offering a long term placement or short break (respite Care).
Living with Adult Placement Carers gives people the opportunity to live an ordinary domestic life, the opportunity to share and experience family life and be part of the community.
All sorts of people can become Carers, some live alone, some live with partners and children.
It isn’t essential that people have experience with people with a learning disability; anyone who demonstrates the right qualities to carry out the role can become an Adult Placement Carer.
All Potential Carers go through an assessment process and will have police checks and references to ensure that they are suitable for the role and will be approved by the local authority
The Adult Placement Scheme pays Carers £375 per week for a long term placement. A different rates applies to Respite Care
Workers from the Scheme will make regular contact with you, they will visit you, and you will be able to ring the Scheme for advice.
You will have a supervision session and be able continue with your training and development.
You will have a chance to meet other Adult Placement Carers and form a support group.
