Funding your own care
When you contact us
When you first contact Adult Social Services we will ask you questions to find out about your needs and whether you are likely to qualify for Council support. If you are not entitled to Council funded support, you can choose whether you want a visit from us to fully assess your needs or whether you prefer to make your own support arrangements. If you choose to make your own arrangements, we will provide you with information and advice to help you. If you are in hospital at this time we may treat your situation differently in the short term in order to get you home quickly.
Services we can refer you to without an assessment
Services you can have with an assessment that are free
- Equipment and minor adaptations to your home
- Short term support if you are visually or hearing impaired
- Employment support for people with a learning disability or mental health problem
- Reablement (short term rehabilitation) for a period of up to 6 weeks.
Services you can have with an assessment that are charged for
- Telecare - you will pay for the line rental of Careline
- Day care (daily charge), including transport to help you get there if you need it.
