HIV and AIDS
The HIV Team provide specialist help for adults and children with HIV and AIDS, and people who care for them.
We offer general information and advice on HIV and AIDS, including a library of books and publications relating to both social and medical aspects of HIV.
We can also provide you with an assessment of your needs. If you have complex needs that might require the help of several agencies we can prepare a care plan and help co-ordinate all the services you need. Your care plan may include help with:
- Practical help such as shopping, cooking, cleaning, or help obtaining childcare support
- Financial worries: benefits, bills, telephone installation (if appropriate), help getting back to work
- Transport concessions: Blue badges, Travel passes, Taxicard schemes
- Mobility: if physical disability or sensory impairment makes getting around difficult, you may benefit from adaptations to your home or equipment
- Housing: advice on applying for Council housing, and your rights in the private sector
- Emotional support such as counselling
