Healthy Hearts

What is a "Healthy Hearts" class?

These gentle Phase IV exercise classes in the borough of Richmond are for anyone who has had a heart problem and has been through Phase III of a cardiac rehabilitation programme. Patients who have never attended Phase III cardiac rehab classes should ask their GP for details or contact the Health Improvement Team. You cannot start phase IV classes without a referral form completed by a recognised health professional

The instructors are trained to deliver safe exercise programmes and the classes provide an opportunity to gain the longer term protective health benefits of being regularly active. After attending the class for 12 weeks you will be encouraged (together with others from the class) to continue exercising within a general exercise programme of a suitable level. This will allow new referrals to join the “Healthy Hearts” class.

How can I join the classes?

Once you have a signed copy of the referral form or discharge note from your phase III class co-ordinator, you can arrange to attend phase IV classes at one of the partcipating leisure facilities in the borough.

Which leisure facilities offer Healthy Hearts classes?

Healthy Hearts classes are currently offered at one centre in the borough but due to expand to a second venue this summer.  You can get more information about the facilties offering classes by following the links:
