Falls Prevention
What are Falls Prevention classes?
These Classes are intended for those people who have had a fall or who possibly feel unstable and have a fear of falling. The trained tutors use gentle movements to strengthen the leg, arm, back, ankle and pelvic floor muscles which helps to improve balance and mobility.
How can I join the classes?
You can be referred into the falls prevention classes by a physiotherapist or your GP. If you would like further information about the referral process contact the Health Improvement Team. Once a recognised health professional has completed the required referral form, the Health Development Team will contact you to arrange a convenient place and time for you to start attending classes.
Which venues hold Falls Prevention classes?
Falls prevention classes are offered at three venues in the borough, all operating with instructors fully trained in exercise for falls prevention patients. You can get more information about the facilities holding classes by following the links:
