Clean and Green Weeks activities
When we visit a ward, council officers and contractor teams will be on hand to address a range of environmental issues and spruce up the streets, parks and open spaces during each of the Clean and Green Weeks. These activities include:
Street Scene Enforcement
- Flytipping
- Graffiti
- Littering
- Abandoned vehicles
- Untaxed vehicles
- Fly posting for example, removal of illegal signs etc.
Cleanaway
- Flytipping
- Graffiti
- Chewing gum removal
- Street cleansing
- Littering and cigarette butt removal
Parks and Open Spaces
- Flytipping
- Graffiti
- Tidy up parks and litter bin emptying frequency
- Litter bin replacement
- Tidy up and litter pick landscape areas
- Parks Patrol for dog fouling
Arboricultural
- Tree pits reinstated or prepared for planting
- Tree stakes replaced or removed where no longer required
- Weeding around tree pits and soil top up
- Planting additional shrubs and plants (season dependent)
Recycling and Eco Action
- Bring sites: tidy up and graffiti removal
- Promote recycling wristbands
Highways Management and Maintenance
- Litter bin replacement
- Remove obsolete signage
- Paint bases of lamp columns where required
- Materials on the highways – permits
- Scaffolding and hoarding – checking safety and permissions
- Repairs to pavements and carriageways (limit square met.)
Parking Services
- Obstructive parking and parking offences generally
- Planning
- Removal of estate agents boards
- Identify untidy sites – private houses and building sites
Trading Standards
- Under age sales and promotion activities
