Recycling consultation and feedback
Your feedback, comments and suggestions are highly valued and are essential in order for us to shape, improve and develop the many recycling services and facilities across the borough.
We are continually gathering and acting upon your views. Feedback is gathered through a number of different ways: whether it be over the phone, by postal surveys, via email or face to face through focus groups, summer fairs or questionnaires undertaken in the street.
Some examples;
Feedback: 'The litter around the Richmond Tertiary College is a problem'
Action: Worked with the College. They employ a daily litter patrol and write to students/parents who litter. Installed additional bins
Feedback: 'We need bins at recycling bring banks'
Action: Installed litter bins at key sites.
Feedback: 'We don’t know when collections take place at Christmas and bank holidays'
Action: Advertise in the local papers, issue a recycling calendar and have the information on our website.
Feedback: 'We want to be able to recycle plastic food trays/yoghurt pots'
Action: Added these to the specification for the tender for new reprocessing contract(s). Subject to funding we hope to introduce these in 2010.
Feedback: Local businesses were concerned that they did not understand their legal responsibilities for waste and recycling.
Action: We offer free no obligation advisory visits to clarify their responsibilities and offer a commercial waste and recycling services.
Feedback: 'Residents wanted all non paper materials to be collected in one container' (survey Sept 2008)
Action: Replaced the white bags and blue bags with a simple two box system.
