Recycling containers for the garden waste collection service

Compostable sacks

We offer 110 litre green waste sacks at £1 each. You can order the sacks online and pay by credit/debit card or by cheque.

The sacks will be sent to you in the post and an additional charge will be added to cover cost of postage according to the size of your order. You can find the costs of sacks and postage here. There is no additional charge for collection.

Please remember if you pay by post and send in a cheque to include your address and telephone number on the back.Garden recycling containers

Sacks can also be purchased from all the borough libraries, the Civic Centre in Twickenham or Townmead Road Re-use and Recycling Centre on Townmead Road Kew.

Get the most into your compostable sack with our re-useable bag support, available at Townmead Road Re-Use and Recycling Centre for £3.50.

First time users

First time users of the scheme must complete the registration form or phone the number on the sack to register their address to ensure collection; however if you ordered your sacks online or over the phone then the Customer Service Centre will have registered you and there is no need to phone. A calendar listing the collection dates for your road will be posted to you once you have registered.

Wheeled bins

Bins (240 litre) are rented at £30 per year. There is no additional charge for collection.

The bins are green with a blue lid. The dimensions are 107 centimeters (height), 57 centimeters (width), 75 centimeters (diameter). The year rental begins when you receive your bin.

The garden waste should be placed loose into the bin and not bagged. On receipt of your application form and payment, bins will be delivered within 10 working days, along with a calendar of your collection dates.

Contamination

Contamination is a serious problem for the recycling scheme, and may result in the removal of the service without refund. If you have any doubts regarding the suitability of a material, please contact our Corporate Contact Centre on 08456 122 660 or email recycling@richmond.gov.uk.

What do I do with my bin if I move house?

If you are moving house please phone 08456 122 660 or email recycling@richmond.gov.uk to inform us you are moving, Your details can then be amended or removed which helps us to ensure the efficiency of the service.

I am moving within the borough

Please inform us of your new address and the date you move in; we can then arrange for you to receive a collection and remove your old address off the collection list.

I am moving out of the borough

Unfortunately the service is only available if you live in the borough. Again please get in contact so we can remove your name off the register. We would urge you to pass the bin over to the new residents, if you know the details of the new occupier, they can be added to the register at the same time as yours are removed.

Will I get a refund?

We regret refunds will not be issued. Bins are hired on an annual basis.
