Recycling in the garden
Recycling garden waste benefits the environment and helps reduce the effects of climate change
(pdf, 95KB). Because of the environmental problems associated with sending garden waste to landfill it is not accepted as part of the normal waste collection.
Please do not burn garden waste as it releases pollution into the air. It can be dangerous as the fire may get out of control and catch alight surrounding foliage, sheds etc and it is also unpleasant for neighbours.
Garden waste can be recycled in a number of different ways. You may find it best to use a combination of methods, which meet your needs.
- Composting at home
- Townmead Road Re-use and Recycling Centre, in Kew
- Collection service from outside the home
