Community outreach (Eco Action)

Staff and volunteers promote waste reduction and recycling at community events, fairs and festivals and provide information for borough residents. Staff are also available to give informative talks on issues surrounding waste and recycling.

Community Champions

Becoming a Community Champion is one way you can make a real difference and help the environment and community around you.

If you are interested in:

  • Encouraging friends and neighbours to recycle more;
  • Develop a solar street by encouraging neighbours to install photovolaic cells or solar water heaters on their south facing roofs;
  • Act as part of a focus group to give feedback to the recycling and sustainability teams on a whole range of  Council environmental initiatives;
  • Help out at recycling events;
  • Set up a local carbon offsetting scheme;
  • Get your work place or places of worship to adopt recycling and re-use schemes or conduct an energy audit; and
  • Providing an sustainability education programme in the community.

Then you may be interested in joining the Community Champion scheme.
