Bulky waste – special collections from residential properties
We provide a collection service from residential properties for bulky items or other household waste, which is not suitable to be collected as part of the weekly household refuse collection.
We can collect items, which are in a box, bag or bundle, or large items (for example a sofa or wardrobe).
To keep a clean and green environment, we encourage you to dispose of all waste in an environmentally friendly way and to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible.
What we will do for you
- We will collect up to five items for £29 (VAT free); each additional item is £3.00. There is no charge for residents over 60 years of age for five items (up to four collections a year) or for residents who are disabled or in receipt of unemployment benefit.
- We aim to collect the items within 10 working days of receiving your completed form and cheque (made payable to L.B.R.U.T.)
- We will ensure that our web pages are up to date with current information and you can download an application on line.
- Our contractor Veolia will do the collections.
- We will ensure that if you contact us we will respond to you within our Council’s customer service standards.
What we would ask of you
- Please do not use this service for fridge or freezer, garden waste, or clinical waste.
- You may also take items to Townmead Road Recycling Re-use Centre for which there is no charge.
- Please leave your items for collection in your front garden, do not put your items on a public pathway or road.
- For items you wish us to collect, please use our online application form or complete our bulky waste application form
(pdf, 53KB) and pay by credit/debit card or by cheque. - Please ensure that items are stacked safely so as not to cause injury to others.
