What materials go in which recycling container?

It is important to keep paper separate by using the blue bag.
The reasons are:
- Collection crews are more likely to injure themselves collecting paper if it is mixed with glass and tin cans.
- Newspapers and cardboard go to separate destinations for recycling and need to be separated.

- Meat, fish and bones
- Bread pasta and rice
- Vegetable and fruit waste
- Eggs and cheese
- Teabags
- All food cooked or raw

- Plastic bottles
- Cardboard*
- Cans
- Tins
- Foil
- Textiles (bagged separately)
* Important: Cardboard will only be collected if it is flattened and fits inside the black box or white bag. This is so there is enough room on the vehicles to collect from every property. Take large amounts of cardboard to one of the public recycling banks or Townmead Road Reuse and Recycling Centre.

A compostable bag or green wheeled bin
Green garden waste - These containers can be ordered online from the council. This is an opt in scheme for which there is a charge, visit recycling in the garden for more details of the service.
