Black Box, Blue Bag and White Bag recycling scheme
To keep the use of landfill sites to a minimum and to keep a clean and green environment, we encourage you to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible. We offer a kerbside black box, white bag and blue bag recycling collection service to every household within the borough excluding multi-occupancy dwellings for which an estates service is offered.
How to use this service
- What goes in which container?
- To arrange delivery of recycling containers to your property please complete our online form or phone: 08456 122 660. This is a free service.
- Blue bags and white canvas bags are available from your local library.
- Your black box, white canvas bag and blue bag will be collected weekly. To find out when your collection will be, you can search for collection dates. If there is a problem with your collection report the fault here.

What you can expect from us:
- We will make a collection from every house once a week.
- We will collect your recycling on the same day every week apart from Bank Holidays when it will be one day later.
- We will inform you if there are changes to your weekly collection.
- We will ensure that our web pages are up to date with current information and that you can check your collection date on-line.
- We will deliver a black box or blue bag within 5 working days of your request.
- We will return the box or bag bins inside your gate/boundary.
- We will monitor and check our contractor to ensure these standards are met.
- We will make sure all missed collections are collected within 3 days of us being informed.
- We will send information and leaflets within seven days of your request.
- We will ensure that if you contact us we respond to you within our Council’s Customer Service Standards.
What we will expect from you:
- Please try to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible.
- Please put your recycling out at the boundary of your property, visible from the road, by 6am on your collection day.
- Please do not put your rubbish for collection on a public road
- Please let us know if your collection has been missed, it will be collected within 3 days of us being notified.
- Please let us know if there was a problem with your collection.
- Please contact us if you would like us to dispose of bulky collection
