Service standards for commercial waste and recycling
What we will do for you
- We will meet with you to discuss your business requirements, please call 020 8891 7057 or email wastecollection@richmond.gov.uk for an appointment.
- We will provide you with an estimate within 2 working days of our visit.
- We will issue you with a trade waste agreement which will last until terminated with a months notice.
- Our invoice will state clearly all accepted methods of payment - direct debit, cheque, and postal order.
- We will inform you what day and between what times your collection/s will take place. (The only day a collection will not take place is Christmas Day 25 December and will be collected the following day).
- We will let you know if there are any changes to your day of collection.
- We will contact you either by phone or by leaving a notification card at your premises if we could not gain access to collect your waste.
- We will ensure that containers are fully emptied and the area left without any spillages.
- We will return your containers to the point of collection.
- We will continue to investigate ways to offer a viable recycling collection service for businesses. We are currently undertaking a commercial recycling trial, more detail on this trial is available on our commercial recycling page.
- We will prosecute anyone caught fly tipping.
- We will monitor and check our contractor to ensure these standards are met.
- We will ensure that if you contact us, we respond to you within our Council’s customer service standards.
What you can do to help
- Please do not put your rubbish for collection on a public road unless you have been authorised to and adhere to the specified time.
- Please let us know if your collection has been missed by telephone on 08456 122 660, it will be collected within 24 hours of us being notified.
- Please do not overload your bins or leave bags beside them as they will not be collected and enforcement action may be taken against you.
- Please let us know if anyone leaves waste or fly tips. We will deal with your call confidentially.
- Please ensure we can gain access to collect your waste on the given days and times.
- Please secure all waste to prevent spillages.
We do not provide a clinical waste, fridge, or freezer collection service for commercial customers. Details of Organisations that will collect fridges, freezers, and other goods from commercial premises for recycling are available on the commercial recycling page.
