Clinical Waste from residential properties
Clinical waste needs to be disposed of safely and should be kept separate from other waste to avoid contamination. You may need to dispose of clinical waste as a result of a medical condition or following post-operative care.
Your doctor or district nurse should be able to provide you with a free sharps container on request.
What we will do:
- We will pick up clinical waste from a residential property free of charge.
- We will provide a “yellow bag” container on request within 5 working days, for which there is no charge.
- We will provide you with a “sharps container” within 5 working days.
- We will let you know when your collection will take place.
- We will make sure that the collected waste is sealed into UN approved containers for transport. The products are then incinerated.
- Our nominated contractor will collect your clinical waste on our behalf.
- We will ensure that we respond to you within our Council’s customer service standards.
What we would ask you to do
- Please ensure clinical waste is kept separate from household and other waste.
- Please do not include pharmaceutical waste, as this should be returned to a dispensing chemist for disposal.
- Please place all needles in a “sharps container”.
