Background information to aircraft noise

This section explains how, when and where aircraft noise affects our residents and outline what developments are possible in the future.

The council has membership of several groups of local authorities in London and the South East, which are opposed to any further expansion of Heathrow on environmental grounds.

The council is in favour of a complete ban on night flights at Heathrow.

Reporting aircraft noise

The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames has a Noiseline available for anyone concerned or upset by aircraft noise in the Borough. The number is 020 8891 7979.  It is a 24 hour answerphone which allows us to receive complaints whenever is convenient to residents, including in the middle of the night, when an aircraft has woken them at maybe 4am.  We also have an office number 020 8891 7729 for those who wish to speak to someone about any aircraft noise issues.
