Mobile phone health effects
Over the last few years there has been a large increase in the use of mobile phones and hence there has been the requirement for mobile phones base stations. Along with this came the concerns about the health implications over the electromagnetic fields that are given off from the base stations.
In response to these concerns in 1999 the Government commissioned the National Radiological Protection Board (now the Health Protection Agency) to set up an independent expert working group to assess the possible health effects from mobile phones.
The group chaired by Professor Stewart conducted a rigorous assessment of existing research and published its findings in the Stewart Report.
