Reducing pollution from vehicles

What you can do to reduce pollution from vehicles if you are motorist or vehicle operator:

• Make sure your vehicle is regularly maintained by checking the tuning, emission controls and tyre pressures
• Don't make any unnecessary journeys, short trips use a lot of fuel, especially if the engine is cold. Walk cycle or use public transport more
• Drive more slowly.
• Drive more gently. Hard acceleration and sudden stops increases fuel consumption
• Switch off the engine if you are stuck in traffic for more than a minute
