Public Space Design Guide
The Public Space Design Guide is an internal document to help officers in their day-to-day roles in streetscape design and is based on an approach we have been taking for some time. However, it is also intended as a guide for developers, contractors and other external agents working within the borough.
Aims of the guide
The overall aim is to provide guidance to help deliver the goal of improved streetscape and public spaces. The aims of this current Guide are to:
- Improve the quality of the street scene and public spaces
- Guide changes so that they reinforce the character of the location
- Enhance the townscape and landscape
- Improve and coordinate the management of the public realm to promote integrated townscape management
This guide will be updated on a needs basis; for example if there are major regulation changes or technological advances.
