Stages and timescales of the Twickenham Area Action Plan
The preparation process for the Twickenham Area Action Plan document covers several stages:
Evidence Gathering (ongoing) – studies and surveys on the social, economic and environmental characteristics of the town centre and the borough. This includes both borough-wide and Twickenham specific studies that provide information on the needs, opportunities and constraints of the town centre. Further information can be found on the Twickenham Evidence page. Also see the Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report for the Twickenham AAP.
Issues – early consultation with the community and stakeholders identified a number of issues for Twickenham town centre and what the AAP needs to address. View the summary of the Twickenham issues analysis.
Options – public and stakeholder consultation was carried out in June/July 2011 on the AAP following the issues analysis. The options took into account the results of the earlier consultations and local evidence studies. The results of the options consultation, including a full report and a summary report, are now available. Further information, including the results of the consultation, can be found on the Twickenham Options consultation page.
Pre-publication – consultation on the pre-publication version of the AAP after consideration of comments made at the Options stage. This consultation will start on 16 December 2011 and will run for 8 weeks until 10 February 2012 (apart from the Twickenham Station site, which will be consulted later on from 27 January to 9 March 2012). Further information can be found on the Pre-publication page.
Publication – consultation on the publication version is anticipated to be in spring/summer 2012. This will be the final opportunity to comment on the soundness of the Plan.
Submission – submission of the final (submission) version of the document to Government for Independent Examination will be in summer 2012.
Examination – the process of testing whether the proposals in the AAP are “sound”. The Examination into the AAP will be led by an Independent Inspector. This is expected to be undertaken in the autumn of 2012, with anticipated adoption in early 2013.
