Core Strategy Proposed Post-examination Changes
The Core Strategy has now been examined by the Inspector, Mrs Ava Wood DipArch MRTPI. During the Examination in Public, a number of changes were proposed. The majority of these changes are not substantive but mainly to wording, and can be viewed on the core strategy web pages as well as in all public libraries and at the Civic Centre.
Core Strategy Examination in Public
In March 2008 the Council submitted the Core Strategy Development Plan Document to the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State has appointed an independent Inspector Mrs Ava Wood DipArch MRTPI to conduct an Examination in Public to consider the soundness of the strategy.
The Examination in Public will commence at 10am on Tuesday 25 November 2008 at York House, 44 York Street, Twickenham, Middlesex, TW1 3BZ.

About the Local Development Framework
In 2004 the Government introduced a new plan making system under the provisions of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. Work is underway on the Local Development Framework (LDF) which will replace the Unitary Development Plan (UDP) with a "folder" of documents. A summary of the changes to policy making

The Local Development Scheme
(pdf, 808KB) (LDS) is the work programme for producing the LDF. A LDS was agreed with the Government Office for London and became operative in April 2007.
However due to changes in the LDF system this is to be revised in Summer 2008. The key dates for the Core Strategy are set out below.
Core Strategy Submission 20 March 2008
The Core Strategy is the strategic policy document which will determine the future planning policy for the Borough. The Council now believes that the strategy, which has three inter-related themes - a sustainable future, protecting local character and meeting people’s needs, detailed in 20 policies, meets the needs of the community.
Key dates for the Core Strategy
- Formal consultation on Preferred Options - September/October 2007
- Submission - March 2008
- Pre-examination meeting - September 2008
- Examination in public - November 2008
- Adoption - May 2009
