A listed building is a building that has been designated as being of special architectural or historic interest. It is included in a list that is prepared by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.

The implications for owning a listed building are laid out under the terms of the Town and Country Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990.
