Mephedrone, is it worth the risk?

Mephedrone, Meow Meow, Meph or Bubbles(pdf, 173KB) is sold as a white powder or in capsules and is either snorted or swallowed.


A stimulant drug, the effects are similar to amphetamines (Speed) and MDMA (Ecstasy). It is sold as plant food and marked as not for human consumption.

Effects can include:

  • Energy
  • Alertness
  • Talkativeness
  • Euphoria
  • Empathy

Side effects can include:

  • Dilated pupils
  • Dry mouth
  • Hot flushes
  • Erratic heart beat
  • Muscular tension
  • Paranoia
  • Anxiety

After effects can include:

  • Insomnia
  • Fatigue
  • Dizzyness
  • Low mood
  • Lack of appetite

After effects may last well into the next day, sometimes longer.
