The Building Development Team
The Building Development Team are responsible for:
- Management of the Education Department's capital programme for buildings and sites;
- Co-ordinating meetings of the Capital Strategy Group and securing Cabinet agreement to the capital programme, following the Capital Strategy Group’s consideration;
- Planning and delivering the annual capital programme for all schools, through a budget consisting of DfES formula allocations and the Council’s allocation for education capital;
- Ensure, in partnership with schools, that net capacity, condition, suitability and energy assessment data is updated and fed into the asset management plan data;
- Preparing and obtaining agreement to the Local Policy Statement on AMP roles, responsibilities and priorities
- Developing policies, priorities and action plans as part of its statutory role in supplying school places, creating specialist units etc,
- To prepare bids to central government and to record and monitor financial transactions with regard to various funding streams;
- To progress the development of an accessibility strategy, to provide relevant training opportunities and to manage the Access Initiative grant;
- Reimbursement of dual use expenditure to schools.
- To monitor, support and report on the implementation of the primary schools PFI project and ensure that monthly reports from the contractor are appropriately followed up in line with agreed procedures.
