What happens next?
For Hampton and Whitton
Following the informal consultation that took place during the spring and summer terms, the formal statutory consultation took place between 11 September 2009 and 26 October 2009. Please see the Consultation page for more details.
At its meeting on 14 December 2009, the Council's Cabinet considered the responses to the consultation. It approved the proposals to close the existing schools on 31 August 2010 and replace them with academies sponsored by Kunsakapsskolan and managed by the Learning Schools Trust (LST), on 1 September 2010. That means that, once the Secretary of State and LST have signed the 'Funding Agreement', the detailed work of implementation can begin, in time for September 2010.
For Shene
Academies Enterprise Trust (AET) have been approved by the Government as the replacement sponsor for the proposed academy at Shene. At its meeting on 23 November 2009, the Council's Cabinet approved the high-level document, the 'Expression of Interest', which sets out the vision of AET and the Council (as co-sponsor).
The Minister of State for Schools and Learners approved the Expression of Interest at the beginning of December 2009, and the proposal is therefore in the 'Feasibility' stage. In Feasibility, details of the proposed academy would be worked up and consultation with parents and other local residents would take place.
Further details of what has been happening with regard to the proposed academy are available in the September 2009 update leaflet
(pdf, 230KB) and the December 2009 update leaflet
