Holiday playschemes are planned activities for children during school holidays. The schemes offer a wide variety of activities, with an emphasis on activities and play.
Holiday playschemes have to be registered with Ofsted if:
The total care provided is for more than 2 hours in one day and more than 5 days a year.
Holiday playschemes do not have to be registered with Ofsted if they only provide care for children above the age of eight.
Some of the schemes only run for a short period, for one or two weeks and only a few hours a day, but there are many that will be able to provide full time cover during the school holidays.
Some activities are located in schools and on their grounds. A few of the playschemes that are based at schools are only available to children that attend the specific schools. If this is the case then it will be indicated on the list.
Live it Up is published by the London Borough of Richmond annually, which contains information on holiday playschemes and other activities within the borough during the summer months.
A very useful source of information on activities in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames can be found on Visit Richmond website. This contains a wide range of information about Richmond upon Thames, including activities around the borough.
