Job hunting tips

Now that you have decided you want to work in childcare, you need to look for a job!

There are many ways to go about doing this:

Word of mouth

Mention to friends, family, neighbours and so on what you are looking for, as they may work in a company with vacancies and may even have a Refer a Friend scheme, where they get an incentive to refer your details.

Newspapers and magazines

Local Newspapers:

  • Richmond Informer
  • Guardian Informer
  • Richmond & Twickenham Times
  • Metro

National Newspapers:

  • The Guardian
  • The Times
  • The Evening Standard

Magazine:

  • Nursery World

Job Centres

Here you can look for work, speak to advisors, access training and other benefits. If you are a lone parent, you could be part of the New Deal programme where you could get assistance with childcare, costs and training needs. (Refer to Useful Contacts for further details)

Way to Work - apprentice scheme for 16 to 18 year olds
