Additional Needs Grant for children with special needs or a disability
There is funding available to support children with additional needs in the private, voluntary, independent and maintained nursery sector. This grant is also for childminders, out of school and holiday playschemes.
All childcare providers in the borough are required by the Equalities Act 2010 to include children with additional needs ensuring that children are not “treated less favourably” and that “reasonable adjustments” are made.
To apply for the grant
In some cases it is possible for providers to apply for a grant to provide an element of support to help in meeting these duties. Providers considering applying for this grant should read the guidance notes here
(pdf, 20KB). Applications should also be discussed prior to completing the forms with a member of the Early Years and Childcare team who can offer further advice and guidance. Please contact Melanie Adams m.adams@richmond.gov.uk 020 8831 6267.
