Family learning target groups
The Adult and Community Learning (including Family Learning) Strategic Plan 2007/8-2009/10 identifies the priority groups for family learning as:
- Ethnic minority families
- Traveller families
- Children with disabilities and/or learning difficulties and their families
- Children and young people with mental health needs
- Fathers
- Young parents
- Young carers
- Families needing support to learn English as an additional language
- Looked after children with their carers
- Families living in disadvantaged areas
In addition to the specific groups mentioned above family learning also targets children and adults who have the lowest levels of achievement in numeracy and/or literacy and groups that suffer the highest levels of poverty, deprivation and social exclusion.
