Curriculum and qualifications

  • Choice: London’s first online course prospectus for 14-19 year old Londoners. It is a searchable, up-to-date directory of the 35,000 courses and programmes.
  • Department for Education website: Information and resources for schools, including guidance on the National Curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and qualifications.
  • 14-19 Learning (QCDA website): Information, guidance and case studies on most aspects of the 14-19 curriculum. Separate sections for students, parents, careers advisors and employers.
  • Directgov - Education and Learning: Information and options for 14-19 year olds, including types of qualifications, courses and careers advice.  
  • Skills Funding Agency: An agency of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills with the responsibility to fund and regulate adult further education and skills training in England.
  • Young People's Learning Agency: The YPLA supports the delivery of training and education to all 16 to 19 year olds in England.
  • National Curriculum Online: QCDA website of the national curriculum, with programme of study requirements linked to online teaching resources and links to all QCDA national curriculum websites.
  • Register of Regulated Qualifications: Information on recognised awarding organisations and regulated qualifications in England (Ofqual), Wales (DCELLS) and Northern Ireland (Ofqual for vocational qualifications and CCEA for all other qualifications)
  • Parents Centre: Support, information and advice for parents on how to help with their child's learning, including advice on choosing a school and finding childcare.
  • Section 96: (DCSF website) A list of the qualifications approved for the use of the students in maintained schools, and for learners in further and work-based education and training, under the age of 19 in England.
  • Teachernet: Information on teaching and learning, professional development, management, whole-school issues, research and education issues.

  • Connexions Direct: Help on getting information and advice on careers, work, finance, health, relationships, by phone, email, the internet or text.
  • Learndirect: Flexible learning to adults wanting to improve existing skills or learn new ones, and for employer looking for an innovative way to develop the skills of their workforce.  
  • National Bureau for Students with Disabilities: Promotes opportunities for young people and adults with any kind of disability in post-16 education, training and employment across the UK.
  • Skills and Education Network (DCSF website): Information on 14-19 collaboration, sharing evidence and developing good practice.
  • Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS): Central processing website for applications to full-time undergraduate courses at UK universities and colleges.

  • Education Maintenance Allowance: Information on the Education Maintenance, which can help with the costs of staying in learning.
  • Young People's Learning Agency: The YPLA supports the delivery of training and education to all 16 to 19 year olds in England.
  • Student Money: Site includes, funding database, budget planner, loan repayment calculator, wage predictor for different careers.
