Electoral Services service standards

  • We ensure that details held on our register are complete and as accurate as possible to help increase voter turnout at elections.
  • We will respond to letters within 5 working days and send out any forms requested on the same day. We will acknowledge E-mails within one working day and give a full response within 5 working days.
  • We will answer the telephone within 5 rings.
  • We will see all visitors within 5 minutes at the reception desk and ensure our reception is clearly sign posted.
  • We will wear name badges at all times.
  • We will investigate, and respond to formal complaints within 10 working days.
  • We aim to make polling stations as convenient as possible, providing suitable access for people with disabilities.
  • Ensure that all of our correspondence is clear and concise and written in plain English as far as statutory regulations will allow. We will also ensure that all correspondence is available in large print, Braille, audio and tape on request.
  • We aim to run elections in an efficient manner, giving clear, concise and accurate information at all times.
  • We will treat everyone with respect and courtesy, actively seeking ways to improve our service for people who have difficulty using it or who are unaware of its purpose.

For personal callers and deliveries, an accessible reception is available on the first floor. Our opening hours are Monday to Thursday 9am to 5.15pm, Friday 9am to 5pm
