Eligible electors
You must be over 16 years old to go onto the Register of Electors and 18 years of age or older to vote.
Countries Eligible to vote in all Elections are British, Irish and Commonwealth countries and British Dependent Territories. We have listed all such countries - please also see below for the list of European Union citizens who may vote in some elections:

* Many Hong Kong citizens already possess British citizenship and are eligible for registration. However, the majority of Hong Kong citizens were previously British Dependent Territory (BDT) citizens until Hong Kong ceased to be a BDT in 1997. They will now be classed as British Nationals (Overseas) or British Overseas citizens – both come with the meaning of "Common wealth citizens" as defined by the British Nationality Act 1981 and are eligible for registration.
