Why
do we have a Community and Police Partnership?
The Community and Police
Partnership (CPP) encourages communication between the Police and
the community in order to develop a mutual understanding of their
concerns and priorities. The underlying premise of CPP is that
successful policing can only be achieved with the consent and
co-operation of the public.
Who
are involved?
The CPP consists of people
drawn from the local community and the Police. It includes representatives of Neighbourhood
Watch, Residents’ Associations, Police Liaison Groups, Victim
Support, the Independent Custody Visiting Panel and Safer
Neighbourhood Teams along with a number of voluntary groups and
agencies. The Council’s Community
Safety Partnership, Environmental Planning and Review and
Environmental and Operational Services are also
represented.
The
Community and Police Partnership represents you!
The CPP is independent of both
the Police and the Council. We
represent the authentic and informed voice of local people about
policing matters.
To represent you as a member of
this community effectively, we need to meet you and listen to what
you have to say. The CPP welcomes participation from all faith
groups, senior citizens and young people, in fact from all members
of the community who are willing to take an active
role. Members of the public are invited
to attend CPP meetings and question the Police on relevant
issues.
