Further to a request for review of the decision made by the Standards Assessment Sub-committee on 11 November 2010, careful consideration was given to the request letter made by the complainant and the evidence originally supplied by him.  The reasons given for the original decision were also discussed.

 

RESOLVED that the decision of the Standards Assessment Sub-Committee on 11 November 2010 to take no action on a complaint alleging that a Councillor had breached the Members’ Code of Conduct be upheld as detailed on the attached Decision Notice.

 

REASONS

 

The Committee endorsed the following reasons given by the Standards Assessment Sub-Committee.

 

  1. No evidence of lying by Councillor A on the basis of the papers submitted.
  2. Similarly no evidence of theft.
  3. The accusations arise from the operation of the policy on parking.  Consideration of policy is outside the Code of Conduct.
  4. Standards for England Guidance states that a failure to respond to correspondence is not a breach of the Code of Conduct.
